So 6 theme parks in 6 days was so much fun but very draining! We went to a waterpark, both universal parks n 3 of disneys parks. After that we headed down to Miami and stayed on south beach for a week. We both got the flu which was a big downer but honestly thought miami was a little disappointing. We spent Australia day sitting on the beach then heading out to a pub crawl with a bunch of other Aussies. The day after we went to the everglades and i was throwing up on the bus there. Seen some big gators though!
After Miami we headed to Tampa where we couch surfed with a really nice family. Not alot to do there we spent our time going on bush walks and yet another theme park called Busch Gardens which had a couple or really good rollercoasters.
New Orleans was next after a 2 day drive. The accommodation there was way too expensive (being superbowl weekend and mardi gra) so we slept in the van both nights, 1st night we went to a mardi gra parade and got heaps of beads then drove to a motel car park and slept in the van. 2nd day we drove to bourbon street and parked the van 1 street across which we ended up sleeping in. We spent the day of superbowl (SF v Baltimore) walking up and down bourbon street drinking and trying the amazing food. Then when it was time to watch the game we got a good spot in one of the pubs, made some friends to drink with and took in the whole atmosphere. After the Ravens won we went into the street to c the whole street flooded with crazy supporters jumping around and chanting. This night was one of the most memorable of our trip! LOVED IT!
It was sad to leave but the next day we set of early to drive half way across the country to return to Vegas. It took us 4 days... day 1: 9 hr drive, day 2: 9 hr drive, day 3: 6 hr drive, day 4: 2 hrs drive. Such a drainer!
This time in vegas we spent a week there just to give us time to sell the van. It only took a few days to sell and we didnt lose much on it at all!
Leaving was very sad as it was our last destination of our trip. Getting home involved a 6 hour bus trip to LA, then a 14 hour plane ride home. Also an hr and a half drive home from the air port.
We didnt tell our parents we were coming home so they got a BIG surprise coming home from work to us sitting in the kitchen when they thought we were somewhere in Texas.
We spent 4 months driving around the States, clocked up 12000 miles! We met so many nice people and made alot of memories ill never forget!
Currently starting to plan my trip through Europe for next year.
